Current Projects - 21/07/09 onwards  

Compact my computing area & give me more flexibility. Add wireless networking, this gives me  the ability  to have a laptop  & be able to use it  anywhere  in the house (Acer Aspire 6930 G).  I  am using a Belkin  N1  Vision wireless router in place of my Belkin 4port router. My desktop PC has now gone although I have retained the LCD monitor, Viewsonic VA1916w for use as below. 

Problems thrown up by this are:-

No RS232 port for my Weather Station downloads. I have now found an adapter "Keyspan USA-19HS"  to get my USB/RS232 connection. Not as quick or predictable at downloading info' but it does get there eventually.

Unable to use my Energy management software, Win95 based (this was on a second PC). 

I have now brought back into service an old Toshiba Satellite 100cs laptop (broken lcd screen which does not work) & am using my PC monitor as the screen. This uses Windows 311 for its Trend EMS application..

Limited space to have a separate scanner & printer (Epsom 2400 & Canon Pixma iP4200) & so I have gone for a Canon Pixma MP620 which gives me the choice of connection, networked, wireless or USB. Got £30 cashback from Canon for this. 

My laptop is now wireless & the printer is on an ethernet network connection so that my No.1 son can print direct to it.
